New Board for the Cardrona Village Association

Following the AGM on the 29th March a new Board has been formed to run the Cardrona Village Association. With many thanks to the outgoing Board we retain Ian Nimmo as Treasurer, gaining Keith Donald as Secretary, Jennifer Misak as Chair, Isabelle Clements and Matthew Burnett-Godfree are co-opted following the AGM.

Get involved

Cardrona is a fabulous place to live and we hope to make it even better through continuing to foster a sense of community, maintaining our shared spaces and ensuring the Hall and facilities are managed for the benefit of all. Whilst the new Board have lots of ideas we’re also keen to use the talent and enthusiasm of our village so if you’ve an idea you’d like to help to realise, or just want to get involved more generally then please do get in touch via our email info@cardrona-village.org

Some people have already offered their help – we’ve Anna Rutherford looking for people to help her organise the Summer Fayre (get in touch at: annakirstyrutherford@gmail.com), Robert England helping to sort out our website and communications, and others helping to improve the energy efficiency of the hall. We also have roles for people who like local issues / politics and attending local meetings – a good way to find out about your local area! Also if you could help out with the management of the contracts for the Hall we have a job for you. Any contribution big or small is appreciated and we know there are lots of very capable people in this village and by offering a little time you reduce the burden on others.

Attached is the subscription form, those at the AGM voted to retain the fee at £30 – and it’s really important to return this with the Gift Aid form filled in, this additional tax-relief boosts your subscription to £37.50 a big increase for our little group, and once filled in we don’t need it every year (but we do need it once!).

We’ll be putting round a newsletter soon so if you’ve anything to be considered including please email info@cardrona-village.org

Updates on Full Fibre

Most of you will have seen the many Openreach vans in or near the village.  This prompted Marc McColgan to contact the Openreach CEO’s office and this is the response: if there were no problems and no issues, Full Fibre should be ready by August 2022 to order, but no commitment on that.

The fastest way to get more info is to add your details to the Openreach Ultrafast page https://www.openreach.com/fibre-broadband/ultrafast-full-fibre-broadband and then you’ll get an email when it’s live. He also said that all providers (Sky, BT, Talk Talk, etc) all get access at the same time, BT don’t get first access. Contractors on the ground have been more optimistic than August, worth signing up to find out when it might be available – sooner rather than later.
