Amended CVA Constituion

A big thank-you to all those CVA members who voted to amend the constitution which now allows the village to apply for funding to upgrade the Pump & Jump track. The new constitution can be viewed here:

Cardrona Summer Fair Cancellation

It’s with great regret that the CVA has been forced to cancel tomorrows Summer Fair due to the horrendous weather that is forecast for the afternoon. The toddlers group will be in the hall between 1 & 3pm to sell the cakes that have been prepared & also to run the tombola.
We’re looking at re-booking the activities for a Saturday in September, so hopefully we can hold this event in drier weather & hope people can still make it along!
Apologies to all those who were looking forward to this event – we really had no choice with the very high likelihood of heavy rain spoiling the sporting & other activities.

Summer Fair: SATURDAY 20th AUGUST from 1 pm

We are looking forward to the return of the Cardrona Summer Fair on Saturday 20th August from 1 pm.

We will have pony riding, races, beat-the-goalie, sumo wrestling, bubble football, a bouncy castle, golf, face painting, music and a super raffle. There will also be a bbq, Nashy’s to sell hot and cold drinks and ice cream, toddlers with their cakes.

Please do bring your own picnic and refreshments to make a fun afternoon of it while the children take part in the various activities.

We look forward to seeing you all there! Anyone wishing to lend a hand on the day please contact Peter Sellar on 07917 018 274 or info@cardrona-village.org.

Marathon Plan

Calling all Cardrona Residents

We’re holding an open gathering this Friday in the village hall to explore ideas around events & activities that could be organised in the village this year. In particular, we’re hoping to discuss what form a summer event could take, so we’re looking for people with suggestions & people who can help co-ordinate/run things.

If you have ideas or would like to volunteer your time/skills, we’d be delighted to see you at the hall at 7.30 this Friday (18th March) – please let us know in advance is you wish to attend. Please pass this on to anyone you think may be interested – especially if they have been involved in previous village activities.

If you can’t attend but would still like to volunteer time or ideas, please send us a message to info@cardrona-village.org.

New Defibrillator

You may have noticed that a defibrillator has been installed at the front of the village hall. In the event of a suspected heart attack, please open the cabinet & follow the simple instructions. The unit is intelligent & will not fire if the patient does not need it.

Concert Night

A big thank-you to the very entertaining Peebles Concert Band & all those who helped arrange the great band night on the 22nd January. It was very well attended & proved to be a great success, raising much-needed funds for the CVA.

Online, Social Media & Email Communication

We will be sharing information & news more widely using online & social media, so please bookmark www.cardrona-village.org & ‘like’ http://www.facebook.com/cardronavillage. If you would like to receive information by email, please let us know your email address & you’ll be added to the distribution list.

CVA Meeting Minutes

As well as sharing CVA meeting minutes on the website, we also plan to display them on the Hall notice boards. Please keep a look out for those appearing.

Annual Subscription

The annual subscription for the maintenance of village facilities (including the hall & communal areas) is now due & set at £40. Please don’t forget to tick the ‘Gift Aid’ option if eligible, this brings in more money for the village & helps keep future subscription fees to a minimum.

It is evident that there are a number of reasons why some village residents have not always paid the annual fee in the past & the new committee would like to invite comments & opinions on this matter. You can leave comments in the village hall letterbox (anonymously if preferred) or by email to info@cardrona-village.org (the identity of anyone sending comments can be kept confidential if desired).

Peebles Concert Band Event

A massive thank you to The Peebles Concert Band & all who helped make Friday  22nd Jan such a great night of entertainment in Cardrona. There was a great atmosphere in the packed village hall & the music went down a storm. On top of this, over £700 was raised for the village – so a great effort by everyone involved, especially the band. Hopefully this is not the last time they play Cardrona!
